This is a throwback image from December of 2013 that I took one cold winter day in Ocean City, Maryland. I was at the beach to shoot a variety of sunrise perspectives while I tried not to freeze to death. Not really, but I’m originally from the south and we don’t like very cold weather especially when winter in Texas means it’s in the 50’s.
Standing near the Ocean City fishing pier, I was enjoying the solitude of watching the day come to life as the clouds rolled across the sea. It was fantastic start to my day. At the time, I was beginning to make my switch from Canon to Fuji cameras and only had a tripod, Fuji X-E2 and the XF18-55mm zoom lens with me. I set up for the shot and bracketed several exposures. I later imported the photo into Lightroom for processing and added a texture to the image in Photoshop as the finishing touch. The final result represents what I saw that morning and the solitude I felt as the sun rose that day.
